The Northern California International Interior Design Association Honors Awards are focused on interior designers, not electricians. Our job is to fulfill the design team’s vision. Recently, McMillan Electric received three IIDA Honors Award nominations for:

• The Lending Club, 71 Stevenson Street, San Francisco.
• BCCI Builders, 1160 Battery Street, San Francisco.
• Cushman & Wakefield, 425 Market Street, San Francisco.

Each of these projects had a different challenge—budgets, building standards, high-end finishes—and McMillan Electric is proud to have assisted these designers with our 60-plus years of experience connecting the Bay Area.

McMillan Electric works with industry partners like HCSS to train the next generation of industry professionals. The Construction Intern Awards program was created to “highlight the very best student interns and the contractors with the best internship programs in the U.S. and Canada.”

Intern Mitchell Trieloff summed up his time with us. “I had the invaluable opportunity to intern this past summer with McMillan Electric in San Francisco. The internship provided me a crash course into the construction process, especially estimating. One of the most exciting opportunities was working directly with Vice President, David Auch, to provide Value Engineering options to a client.”

It was an invaluable experience for everyone involved.

McMillan Electric’s William Musgrave shared the stage with the Governor at the announcement of new clean energy job training programs for the State of California. The location was the newly remodeled Levi Strauss Headquarters, one of our LEED Certified projects.

McMillan Electric completed the first ever LEED Platinum Certified project in California in 2009 and we continue to be recognized as leaders in this important, emerging sector of the industry.

What could be more satisfying than collaborating on a successful design that supports a collaboration-centric business? Winning an award for it. McMillan Electric received the honor as part of the team who worked on the GitHub Headquarters.

For the new 55,000 sq. ft. SOMA San Francisco headquarters of GitHub, McMillan Electric installed the next generation of programmable lighting controls. Sensors track employees and visitors to control the lights around them while collecting data on movements to optimize the system. The use of low-voltage direct current LEDs reduced energy costs by 75 percent.

McMillan Electric proudly shared the award with CRE and BN Builders, Fennie+Mehl, and Studio Hatch.
